Extreme Internet: What Does Extreme Internet Really Mean?

With wildfires becoming more of a problem than they’ve ever been here in California, our team here at Tekulus were forced to think outside the box. We needed to think of a way to create connection and data solutions for situations that were far from normal. This brainstorming eventually led to our Rugged IT program.

What is Rugged IT?

Driven by our own state wildfire crisis, our team here at Tekulus recognized the need for data solutions that could not only withstand unique situations, but that could also provide longterm solutions for environments that were less than traditional. We wanted to create data solutions for extreme conditions, outdoor environments, and situations that called for unique or custom WiFi solutions, and that’s exactly what we did!

Extreme Conditions Should Dictate Our Accessibility

Both extreme territory and extreme weather conditions can put limitations on our connectivity and those limitations can sometimes cause big problems. For example, the logging company that needs to be able to contact loggers within their working zone reliably. This presents a unique challenge for more traditional data solutions. Many solutions can’t provide connectivity at all in this type of situation, but the ones that can are notoriously unreliable. This doesn’t just create a problem in the workplace, it creates danger in the workplace too. Yes, last-minute changes in schedules and projects aren’t going to be received, but more importantly, warnings of inclement weather, wild animals on the job site, and calls back to base for medical emergencies can all go unheard and unanswered.

Our IT solutions team believes that in this day and age, we are better than this. We have the technology, we have the knowledge needed to put that technology to work, and it’s about time that someone did the job. So, we decided that that someone would be us.
